Pizza Pizzazz Night

Everyone loves a quick and delicious finger food, and these tasty deep-dish white pizzas don’t disappoint. Made without tomato sauce, they are distinctively Italian, thanks to the seasonings, and you can even make the pizza crust quickly without having to wait for yeast to rise or buying pricey ready-made crust.



Deep-Dish White Pizza


Serves 6


Prep time: 15 minutes


Cook time: 10 minutes


3 ½ cups self-rising flour


½ cup canola oil


1 ½ cups hot water


5 pats butter, approx. ¼ teaspoon each


Garlic salt


2 tomatoes


1 cup mushrooms


2 cups mozzarella cheese, shredded


Italian seasoning


1. Preheat oven to 375°F.


2. Mix flour, oil and water with a fork to combine, then knead until soft. Cover with plastic wrap while you chop the mushrooms and tomatoes.


3. Spread pizza dough out on floured surface, roll with rolling pin to desired thickness and cut with kitchen shears into approximately 2- by 2-inch squares.


4. Place squares of dough into individual greased muffin tins and press against bottom and up sides of the tin until each muffin cup is full. The dough should fill about 24 muffin cups (2 standard-size tins).


5. Put a small amount of butter (just less than 1/4 teaspoon) into each prepared muffin cup on top of the dough. Sprinkle with garlic salt.


6. Add chopped tomatoes and mushrooms to each cup and top with mozzarella cheese. Sprinkle with Italian seasoning.


7. Place muffin tin in the preheated oven and bake for about 10 minutes, until the pizzas are golden brown in color.


Note: Instead of tomatoes and mushrooms, you can substitute your family’s favorite vegetables.
